WHĀNAU FLATS
Whānau Flats are shared accommodation with other flatmates. Each flat is fully furnished, with a room made up and weekly cleaning of common areas. Payment Board covers your room, cleaning, internet, utilities, rubbish, lawns and basics such as toilet paper and dishwashing liquid. Each flat has a kaitiaki (guardian); a flatmate that helps the Legacy team develop a supportive and safe whanau culture. Volunteer chaplains visit each flat to provide a free shared meal to help with personal costs and further build a sense of whanau in each home. Van pick-ups are available to access a free weekly meal at the local Legacy Community Centre, attend men’s and women’s support groups or to attend a church service on Sunday’s. This is all aimed at creating a supportive living environment for those who want to access these services.
